First off, I must say that I literally have over 100 wine glasses in my house. I have all different glasses for champagne, whites, reds, etc. However, I am always looking for new and interesting decanters.The Riedel Swirl fit the bill nicely... With Riedel you get a top name manufacturer of glassware and a great price, and in this set you get 4 matching glasses. The real surprise came when I used this setup.The decanter itself takes on a life of a device out of a laboratory. In typical Riedel style the glass is thin and exact without any fisible blemishes. With a full bottle decanted, there is ample surface area for the wine to breathe. However thanks to this ingenious design, you can easily pick up the deanters and swirl the wine, quickly aerating the wine if need be. The base is wide enough to remain solid, preventing accidental tippage.The glasses are probably my favorite part... they fit right into your hand, comfortably and firmly. These are my second set of no-stem wine glasses; the other also being Riedels but in a more traiditonal shape. I much prefer these for ease of use and ability to hold the wine. I still prefer the look and experience of stemware, but the truth is that it does not effect the taste of the wine... these glasses are optimal for casual drinking of wine, and I predict they will get much use in our house!

I bought this for the glasses and the decanter was just a bonus but I love it. Other decanters are heavy and difficult to pour from. This one is light and the swirl finger depressions make it very easy to use. Regarding the glasses I had friends over for a tasting in which we poured wine back and forth between various glasses. They were all impressed with the difference the glass makes.
